eXile di Brave blaze new ground in Dancehall music.

His fiery lyrics are wrapped in Hip Hop dialogue and skillful delivery.

I understand that you are currently at Utech working on a bachelor’s degree.

I am in my last year working on a degree in telecommunication engineering.

What drew your interest to pursing engineering?

As a ghetto youth, I got the opportunity to continue school.

We don’t have much, since I have the brain and can multi-task.

[Laughs]  I decide to do it.  School is broadening my perspective.

In what way?

While being in School I met producer Minto from the young veterans.

With the Multi-tasking, I learned copyright, points, and music business overall.

Tell us about your recent song “Cold World.”

I was sitting down watching TV in the ghetto.

The Middle East was on TV with the war.

While around me there is Zinc and everything, the next moment

when you leave you see mansions.

The world is split. I went to the studio and do the song.

Do you always manage to keep your music conscious?

Yeah, even with run up and dung (watch video)

you see the bad and good.  So, everything is an influence.

I only go to the studio when I have to do work.

I have to be amongst the people most of the time.

This way I get the real ting.’

The name eXile di Brave is best explained as?

Well, to be Brave is to stand alone and

exile means to be away from the masses.

Do you play instruments?

I plan on playing the acoustic guitar and piano.

How long you have been doing this?

5 years rapping and I have been a DJ since 2005.

Rapping?

Yeah, I started in 2005.

Why you made the switch?

The other people in my group pushed me to DJ.

Which group?

Narrating hostile conditions (NHC).  We had a few mix tapes out since 2003.

Do people in Jamaica embrace Hip Hop?

There are a lot of people but the producers refuse to work

already bridging Dancehall and Hip Hop.
