Carnival 2010 was by all accounts a season of excitement.
In such a unique festival period which featured the absence of two of Soca’s greatest (Destra and Machel) and the emergence and dominance of a new cast of Carnival characters (JW and Blaze, Shal, Buffy, Swappy to name a few), this certainly was a season of surprises.
In the midst of this year’s period of Carnival changes and Soca stunners the DancehallSoca.com team once again got access to experience a modern day Carnival constant in the form of the annual “Beach House All Inclusive”. The event that has changed the scope of Carnival Thursday feting was indeed consistent with its unique brand of service and entertainment.
2010 saw a host of new events especially during the week preceding Carnival Monday and Tuesday. Nevertheless, the hardcore fans of Beach House remained very loyal to the event to the extent that tickets for this Carnival Thursday fete were in more demand than a warm jacket in Alaska. Hotlines were buzzing as Soca-holics from all across the globe frantically searched and clamoured for tickets to the one of a kind Beach House experience.
DancehallSoca.com always takes pleasure at the opportunity to cover this particular event because of the nice cross section of people who patronise it every year and also because of their general objective to have a fun, relax and not allow any opposing factor such as highway traffic to prevent them from enjoying themselves to the max.
Once again Beach House 2010 was held at the Brechin Castle Golf Club in Couva (Central Trinidad). This particular venue was well received by guests of last year’s event and garnered rave reviews from both new and regular attendees.
One new patron to the Beach House all inclusive shared, “This is my first time here and all I can say is that it’s amazing. I’ve been to a few fetes this Carnival and quite frankly I’m fed up of seeing Pier 1 and the Oval, so coming out here is such a relief and break from the norm”.
The service at Beach House is nothing short of premium as guests could feel the high level of organisation and staff attentiveness upon entry. To say that it was ultra-inclusive would be an understatement. As soon as one made their way past the delightful Bmobile girls who greeted entrants and presented them with fete goodies, one could not miss the arsenal of food and drink tents strategically positioned around the luscious location.
Beach House brought forward a range of food, drink and dessert options inclusive of local and exotic, international cuisine guaranteed to satisfy any palate. Some of the delicacies that fetters enjoyed at this year’s edition of Beach House are as follows: Aloe Pies, Accra, Mini Shaheenas, Hi Tec Polourie, Chocolate Roast Beef, Thai Shrimp in Green Curry, Spaghetti Angolotti, Teriyaki Salmon, Clam, Octopus and Squid (in black bean sauce) and Geera Spiced Pork.
While the avid Beach Houser sipped on a glass of Moet, Asti Riccadonna, Angostura 1919 or took a stroll with Johnny Walker, they were thoroughly entertained by the event’s resident DJs such as the “Trini Technician Jus Jase” and his collection of current and classic Soca and Chutney hits.
As Beach House does not feature live performances guests got a good opportunity to socialise and reconnect with old friends and network with like minded professionals set to the backdrop of a serene party environment and the to the sounds of sweet Soca music.
This favoured fete extravaganza attracts numerous overseas based Trinbagonians and DancehallSoca got a chance to touch base with a few “local-foreigners” as they palanced in the party. “I just got in this morning at 11am from New York, I barely dropped off my suitcase and changed because I had to be here from the very start of this fete…It’s just too good to miss a minute of it”, stated an enthusiastic patron.
One guest from the UK added, “I must’ve spent at least 80 pounds in phone calls to friends and friends of friends to ensure that I had my ticket, but just to be here today was worth all the hassle”.
The local and foreign media were all in attendance to capture the happenings at this sold out event. Also noted local celebrities e.g. Anya Ayoung-Chee (Miss T&T Universe 2008) were also on hand to be a part of the magic that makes Beach House perhaps the most talked about event of the season.
Beach House 2010 clearly did not disappoint as it lived up to and even surpassed the reputation of previous years’ editions.
DancehallSoca.com congratulates the entire committee on the success of the production.
We encourage all serious Carnival junkies to sauce their tickets way in advance as this event is definitely worth the effort.
We also thank committee member Naomi for her professionalism in organising our media access.
