By Darling Nicky

If there was ever a year-end finale to mark with a “BANG”, it was this one, the closing not only of a year, but the closing of a decade!  December 31st, 2009 marked the end of a challenging year that saw many celebrities passing’s, the pinch of a recession, and the consequence of how technology can (in seconds) crumble a person’s career with one push of the “send” button.

But on this night, we put aside ALL of our hindrances, and partied like rock stars to ring in the New Year at DREAM live-to-air on The New Flow 93.5 from the Hilton Mississauga hosted by Devo Brown.  Welcome to my dream....

Two (not one, but TWO) ballrooms exquisitely adorned with party favours and hors d’oeuvres greeted me as I stepped into my party of choice.  Devo Brown on the mic, DJ Ritz on the 1’s and 2’s with the best of the best in tow: DJ Chief (the Chief Rocka), Clymaxx, Judgement Day, Dr. Jay de Socaprince, D’Enforcas, Jump Up Kingz and Vertex.  With MC’s Ghostryder, Celebrity Dru, King the MC and Bass Line from D’Enforcas – the evening was also perfectly narrated for me.

From Hip-Hop to R’n’B, Reggae to Soca – music was definitely the high point of the evening.  It was incredible to see that this was a real “dancing” fete, and not a “pose-up” ting.  The song of choice when the clock struck midnight – “I Got a Feeling” by Black Eyed Peas.  Blue and white balloons cascaded from the ceiling down onto the dance floor that added to the celebratory atmosphere.  Partiers blew into their complimentary party favours, and tossed their tiaras as the “debauchery” (my personal favourite) began!

Highlights:

·          Heavy Hitting DJ line-up

·          Spacious ballrooms with lovely decor

·          Discounted hotel rooms for event patrons

·          Live to air on Canada’s #1 Urban radio station The New Flow 93.5

Lowlights:

·          27 minutes to purchase a beverage from the “tickets” only bar.

·          Was slightly disappointed that there was no “dinner” as the flyer indicated.

Darling Nicky’s Final Thought:

Hey, I had a beautiful hotel room, a lovely venue, music that made me dance so much I did indeed fling off my shoes like a true “3 am Girl” and rock out in only my pantyhose, AND I spent it with dear friends.  DREAM 2010 gets Darling Nicky’s seal of approval.  (Let’s do it, let’s do it, let’s do it, do it, do it, do it....again!) – BEP

Special thanks to Erik of Soul Shock Group as well as Vertex, Glamour, Sweet Flava and KOS.
