On a hectic weekend in sweet Trinidad and Tobago during the middle of Carnival, Soca-holics are often in a predicament as to which major fete they should attend.
This past weekend saw as many as 8 popular events taking place. However, one in particular drew the masses like moths to a flame… A Blue Flame!!
For the first time DancehallSoca.com was able capture all the action at the famous BlueRange all-inclusive fete commonly known as “Blue Flame”.
For weeks this party has been a hot topic, as the demand for tickets was indeed mind blowing, and hopeful patrons went threw numerous lengths to obtain these precious items.
“Blue Flame”, was a collaborative effort executed by Ultimate Events and the Red Ants and BlueRange committees. This event separated itself from others by its comfortable, suburban location in the residential area of BlueRange, West Trinidad.
The streets of this small community were lined with cars, optimistic feters and ticket scalpers who were eager to find an extra ticket for purchase and re-sale respectively.
Having the privilege of being one of the few media houses on location at this fete, DancehallSoca.com took a very direct approach in analysing the jubilation one experienced in the Blue Flame extravaganza.
Amidst the ambience of various booths, body painted model and ATV displays, real, hardcore fans were on hand to give their own reviews.
One enthusiastic attendee offered, “BlueRange fete is the absolute best, it’s a reasonably priced all inclusive and it offers so much, I don’t even know where to start”.
Blue Flame did offer a wide range of food and drink options.
Most notably, many patrons were surprised at the availability of Sushi from the Benihana restaurant. This was enjoyed by many who love the usual fete treats such as bake and shark, corn soup and pineapple chow but also savour the taste of a sushi dish.
Another Blue Flame feter who was enjoying the premium beverages of the Angostura Cocktail Bar stated, “I can’t say anything bad about this event; the bar set up was brilliant and there were no long lines, which is great because I like to enjoy good drinks when I’m out and easy bar access is always an excellent thing”.
When asked why she attends Blue Flame each year, one female patron who was directly in front of the stage told DS, “As much as this fete is somewhat large, it’s still intimate. Plus the entertainment is always fantastic”.
Although this event had no live Soca bands, it featured the superb sounds of the XTC sound system and solo performances by the season’s Top acts such as Bunji Garlin, the current International/Groovy Soca Monarch, Fay-Ann Lyons, Shurwayne Winchester, Skinny Fabulous, Tallpree and fan favourites JW and Blaze.
Although the audience certainly appreciated the high energy entertainment brought forward by all of the Soca Stars that night, it was very clear that the appearance of JW and Blaze caused an incomparable surge of elation. The media personalities turned singers definitely have extreme fan support en route to the Soca Monarch.
Blue Flame 2010 had many exciting and entertaining moments, but for the most part it was nothing but good carefree vibes with a decent crowd and supreme entertainment.
DancehallSoca.com thanks the committee for granting us media access.
