What do you get when you blend a powerful voice with a powerful mind?  Michelle K. Williams!  She blazes the Soca and brings the production to a next level.   You can lime all you want but DancehallSoca.com is set for exploration and Soca is rising.

You are fresh from your recent album launch Soca Rizin.  How was the event?

The launch was a success.  A few artists performed and the place was live.

Is this Album going to be digital or in stores?

Both, it will be digital through I tunes, Faluma, Napster.  Will be distributed by Faluma in Japan.

So, tell us a little about you.  Do you produce just Soca music?

I started out doing R & B at 17yrs old.  I played steel pan, the drums.  I started  doing Soca in 2002.

How would you describe your sound in Soca music?

I do a hybrid of Jazz, Soca, and Reggae.  I love to mix different genres of music.  When I am producing I give every song its own identity.

it seems like your influences are versatile. Does that have an impact on your sound?

Most people want a song from me because I do produce a different sound.

How would you best describe your work ethic?

I do not watch Television and spend most of my time in the studio.   I am also president of the company, so I wear a few hats.

Which company?

Catalyst Entertainment & Records.  I always put myself last because I like to hear other artist on the songs I produce.

How was Catalyst Entertainment & Records started?

Damian Holder is the CEO.  At the time he came in as a client.   He also wanted to start a record company.  We sat down with some friends and the idea for Catalyst was born.

Why the name Catalyst?

The name stands for making a change.  If you have two chemicals separated they can do nothing.  When they are joined they make an explosion.  There is a reaction.

I understand that you were born here in the United States.  Do you feel like being born in U.S to Trinidadian parents make things easier or difficult?

It helps because I have been in corporate America.  Everything I have done in my life fits into my music.

Do you feel like what you are doing in New York City is opening up more opportunity for other artist in Trinidad?

It is a little easier in New York because of the location.  The marketing is still very important.  It is important for artist to get their music out to the masses.  I also work with other studios in Trinidad.
