What genre of music would you say you do?
I started out doing R & B and Hip Hop. In Bermudawe listen to a variety of music. I started at ten years old. So basically all my life I have been doing music.
How long have you been doing music professionally?
Since 13 years old.
Have you produced and write your own music since you started professionally?
Yes, I write but the production is done by Hype Nova. He is an in house producer with First Class Records.
Where do you draw inspiration from to write?
I get inspired by just about everything. I pay attention to life and also other people around me.
What is the music scene in Bermuda like?
We have come along way. It is growing. There are a variety of artist coming out of Bermuda from different genres of music.
DancehallSoca.com like the tune “Dip it Low.” What was the inspiration for that song?
I did a dancehall song called “Fantasy” and then another called “Tell Me”. We were then inspired by Carnival to do “Dip it Low.” It is a fun Caribbeantune.
Do you have an album planned for release?
No album planned yet. I do have enough songs but have been pushing the current songs. These songs will give people an idea of what Jazel is about.
What are some of the things you are doing to promote yourself?
We have been using myspace. I also hope to begin opening for other artist this summer.
Which radio station is currently playing your music locally?
Power 95 and Hot 107.5
What is the current vision you have for yourself?
I am 19yrs old now and in 10 yrs I really hope to get my music on an international level so people can see what I have to offer.
What are some of the popular dishes I can try when I visit Bermuda?
Mac and cheese. Fish cake, but you will have to go to someone’s kitchen for that. Come to Bermuda and we will have to make sure you get some home cooked meals.
I am looking forward to that! What are some of the biggest events on the Island?
On May 24ththere is a huge parade all through the city and different ethnic groups are represented. Then there is the Cup Match which is a two day holiday. It is a Cricket match between two teams from both ends of the Island.
What are you doing when not doing music?
