We celebrated Connecticut’s West Indian week in memoriam of our brethren Robbie Ramkissoon. One thing was for sure, Robbie was riding along that big truck on his heavenly motorcycle. Bunji and Hunter came to town for one thing, and one thing only, to bring the fire to the stage at De Spot [nightclub]. We celebrate Robbie’s life. While he is gone, he is never forgotten!!
The city of Hartford, which is between Boston and New York desperately need its own celebration to be on the world stage. While out on “de road” many onlookers waved, jumped, and some were amazed as their favorite masqueraders move to the Soca rhythms. Lil Rick graced the stage at the world famous West Indian Social Club giving winning lessons. The “winning” competition was a fierce one as many tried and failed.
This maybe one of the best West Indian celebration in Hartford,
CT and cemented the beginning of a long
road for all those who now must fete in Boston, New York, and Miami. Much thanks to those in the movement, Soca Senators, Wyld Fyre Sound, Apocolypse Sound, CTFLAVA, Mad Man Crew, West Indian Foundation, Wivybe, IslandBoyzUSA crew, HartfordReggae, Busy 103.3.
